Sales administrators
customer service representatives
anyone in Customer Support who investigates a customer order at risk
What you will learn:
four common situations you will spot in the Customer Order Book
what each one means
what to do about it
Scenarios at a glance
Symptom | What it usually means |
Estimated Shipment Date is empty | Pelico has no supply event yet to calculate a date from. |
Estimated Shipment Date is after the Promised Date | The current plan will miss the date you promised the customer. |
OTD at risk | Delivery could slip. Worth investigating now, before it does. |
OTD Late | The promised date has already passed. |
1. Estimated Shipment Date is empty
When the Estimated Date is empty, it means there is no supply event in your ERP data that lets Pelico calculate a shipment date for this customer order line.
How to find these lines. On the Date Comparison filter, filter on Estimated Date is empty.
💡These are high-priority lines to investigate. Review them with your supply and production teams, you may need to request a stock transfer order, or collaborate to reschedule a production order or a purchase order.
Once the missing dates or quantities are added to your ERP, Pelico recalculates the Estimated Date automatically.
2. Estimated Shipment Date is after the Promised Date
This means that, based on the current plan for this part, you will not ship the customer order line on the promised date.
How to find these lines. Use the same Date Comparison filter as above.
Review the blockers and find out why the estimated date is after the promised date. Left alone, this puts your on-time delivery for the line at risk.
💡Open the part's 360 view to look at its supply and consumption events, and escalate to the teams involved to help clear the blocker or reschedule an event.
Once the data is updated in your ERP, Pelico recalculates the Estimated Date
automatically.
If you already know you cannot ship on the requested or promised date, update your ERP and let your customer know as early as possible.
3. OTD at risk
Prioritize customer order lines where on-time delivery is at risk, and investigate the underlying issue. Fixing the blocker, or telling the customer about a likely delay in good time, protects your on-time delivery either way.
How to look into it. Open the part's 360 view. It shows every supply and consumption event on the part, in the current plant.
💡The stock details may point to an opportunity: a stock transfer order from another plant, or a partial delivery on the customer order.
If some events are not covered, there may be an opportunity to collaborate with production and purchasing: launch a covered work order, or place or reschedule a purchase order with a supplier.
4. OTD Late
If a customer order line has not shipped by its promised date, its OTD status shows Late. How to find these lines. Filter on OTD status in the Customer Order Book.
Investigate why the line is delayed. Use the Estimated Date to give your customer a new, realistic promised date, so they have visibility on when the order will actually arrive.
💡Always update the dates and quantities in your ERP, or ask your collaborators to. This is what lets Pelico give you the most reliable dates to manage your customer order book
Assumptions & limitations
Every recalculation depends on your ERP data being current. An empty or stale field in the ERP is the most common reason a line looks worse, or better, than reality in the Customer Order Book.
